Do you remember how nice it was to rescue a puppy or any dog from being put down? Now you need thousands for the vet.

I am seeing commercials for pet insurance because it can cost thousands to get a dog or cat treated.  How insane is this?   Who can afford to take on the responsibility of an animal if you need a separate bank account FOR an animal?

  • My last two Basset Hounds were rescue hounds and it never cost anything like that for anything. Besides, instead of Insurance, you can always apply to CareCredit and have a year to pay them back interest free. Those pet insurance deals are like extended warranties on cars. Total rip offs and never pay for whatever caused the problem. CareCredit is a much better way to go.

Thanks.   I still hear all the time that pet costs can be horrific.  I know nothing about care credit except that it has the word credit in it and that means an ongoing bill.  If that's the case, I'll keep my parakeets.

  • I've never had to use it but I read up on it. A year to pay with NO interest isn't a bad way to go if you're low on money.
