Are big familys more common now? what is considered a large family?

over heard two talking. one said its nice to see big family's again. 4 family's each have 5 children. I personally don't see 5 children as a large household.

I think they call 1-2 kids average family. I suppose that I never considered 5 to be a lot. Putting it that way does make me 're-think 5 kids is a big family. This post was edited by Perfect Mystery at June 12, 2017 10:17 PM MDT

My grandmother had 11 kids. She didn't have anymore because her husband died, at the time she was pregnant with her 11th. My husband comes from a family of 13. At the time there was no birth control. I personally think it is a big responsibility to raise a child in this very difficult world. Nowadays to me a family of three seems large.
