I went straight and started using dashes ------  -------  Ahhhhhh, that's better!

Oh honey..........bad news.  I have learned that your tilde has another name which has caught my attention.  I shall now refer to it as the swung dash.  Yes.........that sounds like an ignoramus describing a track and field event.  But, the fact remains~~~~~~~
