    Since people are sometimes falsely convicted, it is a good idea to to have an attorney who can help you present your case properly. In addition, if your job is to be vice president, it is helpful to turn over some things to an attorney, so that you can focus on the job you were elected to do. This is my opinion of why he might have hired legal expertise instead of simply relying on truthful testimony. I think it is premature at this time to speculate on anyone's guilt or innocence and I have no comment on that.

    Look at the way facts get twisted on both sides of the fence.  He would be foolish not to have an attorney. If for no other reason than the possibility of  Trump throwing him under the bus like he does everyone else.
