Is there a movie in which you remember the opening theme song more than the movie itself?

Mine is from "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines"
~ a fun theme!
If you've not heard it - - at least wait until the 0:26 seconds-or-so mark when the men start singing

WelbyQuentin on crack -- it could be a great thing or a scary thing, I'd think.

I'm addressing that one to our buddy Lyrical, here, Welb.

I sent you the movie Out of Africa above SO?

Get Cracking.  I saw Dancer in the Dark for you and it was the greatest movie ever.

This is also the greatest movie ever.   Watch it.  When you are in the mood of course.

Yes, somewhere in this thread/question I saw you posted "Out of Africa" and now I have no reason not to watch.
    :)

Maybe I'll just snatch some of that crack anyway, ha!

My, this is nice! I only saw this movie once and must not have paid too much attention to the music maybe. I like the behind-the-scenes images in this video!

I actually like this version even better:

This version sounds more like it may have been directly from the movie score to the movie. The other one had sort of a rhythmic drum beat going through the whole thing I think? At least, this version has that "Barry Sound." After listening to these pieces so close together, I hear a very similar style to Barry's music in these movies. It's all good, though!

  • One of my favorite soundtracks and it's easy to see why you may not have noticed the music. It fits into the movie seamlessly, like it's just part of the picture and not a song to add mood.

Sorry for the intrusion. It's a great soundtrack!!

The full movie of "Out of Africa" now sits before me -- thanks, Shar to the Rona! I guess I don't have any excuse now.

I thought Kevin Costner directed this movie? I know he stars in it but I thought he directed it, too

I'm confused now on which movie we're all talking about, ha! All the comments are jumbling in my head! Ha!
Anyway, I'm talking here about "Dances with Wolves."

OK - - here's my favorite John Barry theme
    :)

    - - from the Movie "Frances" (about the actress Frances Farmer; Jessica Lange was phenomenal in the movie and she bears a striking resemblance to the real Farmer)

My favorite parts of this movie have always been Margaret Hamilton as "The Wicked Witch of the West/Almira Gulch" and the tornado scene during the black-and-white/sepia beginning portion of the film. The tornado scene still scares me. As does Hamilton!

Your question really has my hamster spinning on its wheel Welby!

Anyway, this is really a main theme but I love it and definitely remember it more than the movie........
