The accuracy at that distance kinda stunned me plus I didn't even know a bullet could travel that far. Of course I'm not a gun person so I don't know anything about what guns can do. All I know is that they are very good at being used for killing living things. Thank you for your reply Spunky and Happy Saturday! :)
I thought it was an amazing shot at that distance. I don't know much about guns either, but it must have had to be a gun with a longer barrel than most. Yes, they are good for killing living things, and very useful when that living thing is trying to kill you.
OK bh. I'm gonna ask the obvious question. I thought the Red Baron was a Charles Schulz invention for use in his comic strip. So there really WAS a Red Baron? I guess I should Google it. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
Two things about this stunned me tom. First I didn't know a bullet could travel that far and second..being accurate at a distance of two miles? How is that even humanly possible? Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
A Barret .50 caliber sniper rifle has an actual range (how far the bullet can travel) of about 4.2 miles. (Internet) that's 7392 yards.
The "target" was 3696 yards away---half that distance.
As long as you can get the bullet that far and with a fair amount of energy left, as long as you can accurately factor in the variables of temperature, humidity, wind, etc., plotting where to aim can be mathematically calculated---but yes it still takes the sniper "to pull it off."
(When I shot 22 long rifle shells as a kid, the warning on the ammunition box stated that the range was 1 mile.)
And do check out the Red Baron---
Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen (born Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen; 2 May 1892 – 21 April 1918), also known as the "Red Baron", was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories.
