Thank you for your reply. What if I were home-bound and that milk were essential to the health/survival of my children? What then?

In a case where it would hurt me more; say if I had to cancel a get together with a friend that was really needing a shoulder. It would feel worse to me than if someone had to do the same. I don't like letting loved ones down.
In a case where it would be worse if someone broke a promise to me would be if they betrayed a trusted bond. That would certainly trump most other things that I would think to make a promise over.
