Which hurts YOU more...having someone break a promise to you or your having to break a promise to someone? Why?

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

If I am promised the job of my dreams and I find out that I don't have that job, that would hurt like hades.

If I promised you I would get you a gallon of milk on my way to your house and did not deliver?

That is no biggie.  So, it depends on the promise.

Thank you for your reply.  What if I were home-bound and that milk were essential to the health/survival of my children? What then? This post was edited by RosieG at June 24, 2017 4:54 AM MDT

Absolutely depends on the promise and the circumstances.

In a case where it would hurt me more; say if I had to cancel a get together with a friend that was really needing a shoulder.  It would feel worse to me than if someone had to do the same.  I don't like letting loved ones down.

In a case where it would be worse if someone broke a promise to me would be if they betrayed a trusted bond.  That would certainly trump most other things that I would think to make a promise over.

    Happy Saturday Rosie!
