Why do Pols refer to God when they are engaged in politics? Did they get God's permission in advance or are they being presumptuous?

Maybe God wants to be left out of petty inane human interactions. Politics is a great example of that. In the great scheme of things politics is small potatoes. The self-righteous believe God is on their side. Arrogant, aren't they? Assuming you believe in God we are all His children. What makes anyone think He has favorites?

Politics is debating what justice is.

People who believe in God, see God as the ultimate authority in the universe who defines what justice is. People who don't believe in God must therefore see something else, like the state or the collective opinions of society, as the highest authority that defines what justice is.

The left has a distaste for God in politics because it undermines the power of the state by setting something above it. It allows an individual to claim the moral authority to stand up to the collective and they hate that.

Whatever spiritual beliefs people have, they see something as the highest authority. That is in effect their God whether they openly speak of it or not. To not invoke God is simply to imply that you, or the state, or society is God.
