Yes. Back when I was starting up the windsurfing club, the local Yacht club was a major opponent, Particularly one yacht-club member really hated us. So I 'bragged', where only he could overhear it, about something illegal we were planning. Of course we were not planning anything, but he believed it and spread the tale in the Yacht Club. They Loudly and publicly 'Exposed us' and named some co-conspirators i had name-dropped  for him to hear. So in addition to being an attack on us it was also an attack on a local newspaper, a county politician, and a few more people who did not like us and who would obviously never have agreed to the rather silly plan I had 'leaked'. The Yacht club's accusations were easily proven false and they ended up with a lot of egg on their faces.

And from this we learn that clear thinking is good, and hatred bears the seed of blindly believing when you really should check your 'facts' before making accusations. This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at July 2, 2017 5:38 AM MDT

I LOVE this sharing of a real-life example JakobA! I really do. GOOD FOR YOU and the others who conspired to beat them at their silly game.  Very nifty m'dear. Accusations are easily made and often are based on lies just to do harm. You pre-empted them. You set them up as they well-deserved. I love happy endings! Thanks for giving us one! :)
