I graduated high school three months shy of my 18th birthday.  Within a month, I had a job in a law firm as a secretary.  I stayed there until I was 23 and went on to another job with better pay once I had experience.  At 24, I moved into my own studio apartment, three years later I moved to a one-bedroom, then moved to another one-bedroom in a better neighborhood where I have lived for the past 40 years.  I bought the co-op apartment I live in now when my landlord was foreclosed for non-payment of his mortgage and I got it for $15,000 less than if I had bought for the insider's price when the building went co-op.  As a single woman, a house would have been too much for me, so I remained where I am now.  About 6-7 years ago, I bought a two-bedroom condo townhouse in PA which I rent out, and  where I will live when I retire completely.  I seriously doubt I would be able to do all of this if I were a millennial today.

I'm a so-called Millenial, I'm 23, but to answer your question I owned my own house when I was 18, got married when I was 21 but my twins aren't due until the 18th of November, had a full time job when I was 18 but never worked two jobs at once and never started my own business.

I've never been in a choir either but I sing in the shower every morning!  Does that count?

Interesting. How did you get a house at 18? I don't think many have enough money to pay cash or enough credit to get a loan. Did you inherit it? Congrats on the twins. That's gonna be fun.

I bought it from my dad when I was 18 so it's the house I grew up in.  He worked out something I could afford with my agreement I hold on to the house and the property.

    Here's one for ya. lol

Started working full time at 17.
Took an extra year of school and graduated at 19. (I think they kept me around in case the teachers needed my advice on how to run things)
    Married at 19.
    Divorced at 20.
At twenty something, 3 kids, aged 4, 5, 6 and live in girlfriend.
Year or so later started studying the Bible but no choir
Year or so later got married
Year or so later got baptized and adopted my boys.

EDIT: Forgot, bought my first house in my twenties as well, before I met my wife and kids. This post was edited by texasescimo at July 5, 2017 7:12 AM MDT
