It's bizarre psychological trait that the left need to belittle the popularity of their enemy.
When a left wing leader is popular the right has no problem admitting it since, to the individualist mindset, being popular and being right are two completely different things. We believe in objective reality so popularity means nothing except winning the democrartic process. It doesn't imply moral authority.
To the left admitting popularity implies admiting moral authority so they can't do it.
The left have a deep need to believe that they are a majority that is oppressed by a small minority. They need to think they represent the people and are fighting the good fight against elites. They can't face the reality that less than half the people are with them.
Everyone doesn't hate him. He would not have won the election if everyone hated him. Don't let the loud mouths intimidate you into thinking they are the majority of the country.
