....did they mention what color he was? I don't remember.
All I can tell you is taking trophies and animal heads is not only done by white men. There are poachers all over the globe that do atrocities in the name of decorating their dens or padding their wallets. We have long passed the days where people killed for food lest they starve.
I was 3 when I saw "Bambi" Shar. Everyone was white in those days. People of color were invisible. When have you ever heard of a Big Black Hunter? Thank you for your reply and the graphic.
I just TOLD you there are poachers all throughout Africa and they kill gorillas and take their hands and let the corpses rot. They kill elephants for the ivory tusks. THERE ARE A LOT OF BLACK HUNTERS.
We have not long passed the days where people hunt for food. Subsistence hunting is still a very important source of food around the world, even in the USA.
Killing elephants for their tusks, cutting the fins off sharks then throwing the sharks back into the water, killing tigers and leopards just for their skins. These are not done exclusively by white men. Is it that hard to comprehend that sport/trophy hunting is done by other races other than white?
We hear about the BIG WHITE HUNTER Karen. When did you ever hear about THE BIG BLACK HUNTER? Accompanying THE BIG WHITE HUNTER would be natives to facilitate the kills. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday! :)
Back in those days, the people of Africa accompanied the hunters as guides. That's how they made their money. When they weren't doing that, I'm sure they were hunting to feed their families.
Not very likely that Bambi's mother became a trophy. Does are killed for their meat, not to become trophies. It's the bucks with large racks (of antlers) that are taken to be "taxidermied" and mounted on the den wall. But even in those cases the meat ends up on the dinner table.
I was going to say something very similar Salt and Red Pepper. It is normally the bucks they hang on walls to show how old the buck was by his rack. I guess the older the buck, the better the kill. I've NEVER understood is behavior. Anyway you look at it, Ick!
S & RP is right. Trophy hunters have no use for the heads of female deer. It probably is something related to that "never hit a woman" thing. Or, they feel more manly showing off that they killed a MAN deer than a woman deer?
You'll love this... I wonder if little Donnie mounted their tiny heads on his wall? PUKE!
Oh geez Louise Puhleez ! I cahn't stend it! These guys probably have trophy rooms in every home the Trumps own. Being heartless/thoughtless/emotionless/soulless what's to stop them? Thank you for your reply SA and the link and Happy Monday! :)
White Hunter is a term in Africa for a hunting guide who is usually white. Laws require that a person sign up for a safari with an outfitter before he can receive a hunting license and permits for the desirable game. There are bearers who do the work involved. African big game rifles are heavy, so there is a gunbearer for the client. The white hunter carries a rifle to back up the client. A man I know went on safari in Kenya in the 1970s. He said he had to sign up for a 30 day safari for $6000 to the outfitter. His licenses and permits cost about $1500. He had two rifles costing $5500 total. Some white hunters are called Great White Hunters. Deer hunters usually mount only the heads of bucks with nice horns. My friend I mentioned shot a nice 18 point buck in New Brunswick, Canada. He had 150 lbs. of meat from it.
Boy, those were the good (as in cheap) old days. In South Africa right the most expensive animal permit is for an elephant at around $38,000. That's a bit extreme but none of the animal permits are cheap . . .
My friend went at the right time. I suppose it was an expensive venture by 1970s standards. He and I were certain prices were much higher by now. Yes, he said the meat was given to local villagers. An elephant has much meat.
