Why do Presidents all seem to think they need a library? I certainly wouldn't visit one. Would you?

It depends on what they have to offer.

You would if one was nearby. People treat it like a museum and different events happen there. You might find yourself going to an event that just so happens to be at one of those libraries.

It is not that the presidents want them or pay for them. Just the traditional gift to give to a president when he finish his term(s), much like your boss is likely to give you a wristwach when you get to old to work and have to retire.

Provided the president's library is a normal library and doesn't consist solely of books about said president. 

I painted the iron fence around a President's library. My cousin skillfully repainted the President's daughter's doll house. My uncle and father painted and wallpapered the inside of the President's library.  This was in the 60's.  It was a President from the 1800's. Can you guess which one? 

"I don't know! They don't tell me anything!" (sigh)

Because libraries were where people went to learn ... and for entertainment ... before the internet and video games.

Yes, I would visit one.  I would not know what to expect to find.  It might be that one is all I would want to visit.

I visited the Jimmy Carter Library in Atlanta. Through words, photographs and artifacts, it tells the story of his life. I found the tale of a man rising from basically nothing to the highest office in the land to be quite fascinating.

I also visited the JFK Library in Boston. Same idea, without the "rising from nothing" part. But the story of the Kennedys is fascinating in itself.

Trump Library should be fun. No books, just lots of tacky decor, vodka and slot machines.
