No. I get a lunch hour, but that doesn't count against the 8 hours. So I'm trapped for nine hours on days that don't involved overtime or extra work done at home. AND that doesn't count constant learning on my own time, all of which won't matter in the long run.
I am currently retired, but during my career, I often worked nights, holidays and weekends. We were expected to accomplish certain things by a certain deadline and do whatever that entailed.
