Here's the set up:

There is too much "stuff" in the kitchen.
Woman's point of view: Rebuild the kitchen.
Man's point of view: Get rid of stuff.
Is this universally true?

Nope. I love an uncluttered kitchen.

So I should get rid of stuff? HA...she is a hoarder and won't part with anything.

That's a tough one. It really can be a psychological problem. Hope it's not at the point where she won't get rid of food from 1990 but more a matter of too many ceramic roosters on the counter.

Hope you have at least one space for yourself. Other than the bathroom that is. Which I'd imagine is cluttered as well.

It may not be universal but I think it's common.  My wife collects more clutter than I ever could.  It has been the cause of many bloody battles over the years.

LOL now you know I am never going to disagree with a woman :P And it isn't true that all women are hoarders OR that they always suggest getting a better kitchen :P  I am a bit of a minimalist .. others in my household are horribly hoarder like....  I am always organising things to make things neater and tidier.. they are always disorganising and leaving things lying around..

We should consider too whether the storage space and the way it's organised do mean that there is clutter etc... so your wife may have a point.

Dude, every woman wants a new kitchen even if it's totally empty. If your retirement savings can afford it, let her go for it. If not, show her the bank statements that prove it.

    Not true.

There's a species of female in the USA called the Jewish American Princess. Their collective idea of the "perfect" home is 10,000-square-feet of floor space (just shy of 1,000 square meters), but no kitchen and no bedroom! ('cause they don't cook and they don't, well, you know . . . ).

Even she needs a kitchen, so her Mom can come over and cook chicken soup with matzo balls while berating the no-good goy she married. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at July 19, 2017 9:32 AM MDT

Unfortunately she is only Jewish by injection.

I can afford it but she doesn't understand that for a given floor area you have to give up something to gain something else. Put in another cabinet, take away counter space. Even her daughter agrees with that.

    The only right answer?

    Which man?  Which woman?
