They are fun to play with for about 3.5 minutes. That's me. Kids who are a bit hyper seem to benefit from them. That comes from a second-grade teacher who I have no reason not to trust.
In my own experience with an eight-year-old branded as ADHD (which I do not believe exists) I found that while helping him with homework he stayed on topic easier when he was spinner-fidgeting. I also let him stand at the table rather than sit. That helps.
That news report sounds like some of the hysteria emitting from liberals here at home.
