My sister's boss and his family. His absolutely amazing 26 year old daughter, studying for her PhD in Ireland, working as a lecturer at her university, scheduled to marry the love of her life, spending the weekend with friends after completing a charity race, died in a house fire. She wasn't supposed to be in that second floor bedroom. As their guest, they let her have it and slept downstairs on the couch. They made it out alive. Preliminary findings show a faulty cell phone charger.
Boss and family (wife, three children) flew to Ireland to collect her body, cremated after they identiflied her by a tattoo on her ankle. After the memorial service, attended by her fiancé and countless friends, students and work colleagues, they flew with her ashes back to the US. Her funeral was attended by an estimated 1000 people, where they played the music she'd chosen for her wedding.
That cheap guy who lost a dime while wandering around some wilderness lands then spent the rest of his life digging for it. At least now we have the Grand Canyon.
