    I don't know anything about Comey. It doesn't matter, he's gone from the President's cabinet.

    I think that by the time firing Comey became an issue, it was already too late to backpeddle.  If he was not fired, Comey would have been trouble.  They had to get rid of him, I think and that opened the can of worms even more dramatically.
