Where is a place you are most likely to run into a friend from many years ago?

The grocery store when I look my worst, usually a female friend.

Reunions. 

There's a hamburger place/bar near where I grew up where people would hang out in high school, and it's still a place where those of us who come back home frequently visit. I'm bound to see someone I know from years ago there.

Gulf Shores, AL.  That is where we all went to the beach when I was growing up.  I have never been there and not run into someone I know from back home.  Back home is 280 miles from there.
