HE IS SIMPLY A SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTER JUST LIKE HIS BOSS.    I'm sure at the last moment he realized,  all- too- well, just how much his name would appear in lights over this small action.  To give him accolades over this hold-out is a joke to me.  He knew he would be hailed as some brave standout hero.   He also is in it to stick it to Trump for his insults regarding his hero status during his TRUMPING campaign).

He is no hero.  While Trump was NOT  right about his imaginably brave actions concerning being a prison camp victim, he still is a flip-flopping liar just like Trump.

It doesn't sound as bad, his history, because he did one of the bravest things another man can do.  He survived a prison camp.  I cannot imagine how much courage and strength of character that took.  Trump could never even wipe McCain's boots for that one action alone.   Nor can many of us.  BUT... that aside?   I don't want him representing me in any political arena ever.   He couldn't do anything right if he tried.

Too little way too late as I said on one of your prior questions.

I'd call it a happy accident on his part, his decision to say NO.  His brain flip-flops so much, I am surprised he remembers which side he is on today.

On another note?   HOW DID THAT MORON TRUMP MANAGE TO NOT GET THROWN OFF THE ELECTION CIRCUIT AFTER SAYING THAT HEINOUS INSULT TO A WAR HERO?

That alone proves to me that this whole election was rigged.  He knew (TRUMP DID) that he could pull anything off and get away with it.

Do you think McCain having been a POW has something to do with his vote?  I think it was just a matter of playing politics.

There is no party consensus on healthcare among Republicans, they are all over the place.  The only thing they agree on is the word "repeal", though not whether it should be repealed in whole or in part, and not on what should replace it.  The 'skinny repeal' seemed like a last resort for the Senate, and seen by some as a means to kick the discussion into a bicameral conference committee.  A few feared that the House might just vote on it, rather than going to committee.  That was a valid concern, despite Ryan's assurances.

Knowing that both Murkowski and Collins were voting against the bill, those with lingering concerns also knew it would only take one more vote to kill it.  McCain voting against it allowed any others with doubts to toe the party line.  Politics.

Please read the other responses on this thread. I am APPALLED at how ugly they are. Thank you for your reply LO and Happy Saturday. I hope that was not the only reason. I hope Senator McCain really believes that the legislation is a piece of sh** that doesn't deserve consideration. I shall hold that thought despite what all the McCain haters say. :)

I'm not well versed in McCain's congressional history so
didn't realize the level of hatred that exists for him.

Though I don't share that hatred, I can understand people finding his motives suspect. He really has been a milquetoast on the subject of Trump for quite some time. Just supporting him after he was ridiculed for his war hero status wasn't a very good show of character.

Please Rosie, do cite any "ugliness" or "hatred" in my reply.  Oh that's right...you cannot, as it isn't there.

    Happy Saturday, Rosie!
