One of my daughter's friends is a drama queen and I have little time for her - but I did feel compassion for her when her mother passed away.

That is precisely what I mean m'dear! You can set aside how you generally perceive the person and feel sympathetic for a loss or something sad. Good for you! I can do that too. Thank you for oyur reply Sbf! :)

I try to keep in mind that what's disagreeable about a person usually stems from some type of problem within them and/or their life. And while that doesn't excuse bad behavior, it can alter my outlook and help me to have patience and compassion.   This post was edited by LyricalOne at July 31, 2017 7:40 AM MDT

As you know Lyric I have very strong opinions and always share them but I can do that. I have done that. I will do that again. I can set aside what I think about someone and be present in that moment and react to it without baggage. I'm not boxed in or limited by my own prejudices/preferences when an occasion calls for it. Thank you for your reply! :)

  • It is a very difficult thing, but a very worthy goal to strive toward.

I can do it whistle and it really isn't that hard. What I do is put aside whatever I think about the person and in that present moment react to it without prejudice. You know I have very strong opinions and share them but I'm not a prisoner of my views. Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)

Often.  I've learned that we all have our own ration of sh!t to deal with in life.  I may not see what others have have to go through or deal with in life, but I know it isn't always what they present to the world.  When bad things happen to people, I can empathize with them whether I like them or not.

Yes.  believe it or not, I actually feel bad for Jeff Sessions, whom I truly dislike.  I believe that no person, especially one in such a public position, should be treated with such utter contempt and humiliation as he is being treated by Trump.

Precisely! He really isn't an excellent person because of his harsh views on so many things. On the other hand no one deserves the treatment Doofus Donny is dishing out to him. Sessions was the FIRST pol to take Doofus seriously as a prez candidate and supported him from day one. This is the thanks he gets. Shameful. Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)

As you know, Trump is very big on public criticism and humiliation, so what he's doing to Sessions reflects worse on him than on Sessions and is likely to backfire.  Too bad Trump can't see that - or, more likely, he doesn't care.  After all, he did win the election, as he so often points out to us.

He has been put on NOTICE by Lindsey Graham that if Sessions is fired "holy he** will break loose". So we shall see if he doubles down and fires Sessions as well as tweets irrational rants/threats against Graham. Doofus can't stand losing and so far he is a bigly LOSER! And so it goes. Thank you for your reply Spunky! :) This post was edited by RosieG at August 2, 2017 4:13 AM MDT

The Republicans say all kinds of things that don't amount to a hill of beans. Be nice if they finally do take a stand.

Meanwhile, I heard that even if all Cheeto's political contortions (Sessions being the latest) do lead to his firing Mueller, Mueller is very unlikely to take it lying down. He'll challenge Cheeto, in court, to show just cause for the firing. Yet another can of worms waiting to be opened, as Mueller gets to explain exactly why he did what he did.

I await that day should it come. I wonder how much positive influence General Kelly will have on  Donald John? Thank you for your reply Lyric! :)

Lindsay Graham is a lot of hot air.  Let's see the action, forget about the words.  Happy Monday. :)

If I hear the words, "I'm concerned," uttered from another Republican's mouth, I'm gonna barf.  *goes to find barf bags*

I hear ya.  Yesterday, on Face the Nation, John Dickerson interviewed Jeff Flake, a Republican from Arizona, who seemed to be one of the few Republicans who had a good head on his shoulders.  If you have a way to find that interview, it may be the best 10 minutes you spend in regard to politics.

    Great line he had:

"When we excuse on our side what we attack on the other, then we are hypocrites. If we do that as a practice, then we are corrupt. If we continually accept this conduct as elected officials, then perhaps we shouldn't be elected officials."

Whether the air is hot or cold at least he is saying the words. That should count for something. Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)

As you yourself have said, it's not what you say, it's what you do.  So, I'll give Graham a chance to "do." :)  Happy Wednesday. :)

I have been criticized for my ability to show compassion for literally everybody. My mother was the same way.
