The last time you were in a country other than the one where you normally live, what product or service that's readily available back home


was completely non-existent in the foreign country, so much so that you didn't realize how much you may have previously taken it for granted?







*I noticed that salt and pepper shakers aren't usually placed on tables in restaurants in many countries other than the United States, and that if a customer asks for salt or pepper, it's brought from the kitchen in the large container that cooks and chefs use, if it's brought at all.

    We usually have salt and pepper available on the table in the UK except perhaps the very poshest places..  I think it's considered a sign of class to be served salt and pepper..  i know some of the italian restaurants ask you if you want pepper and/or parmesan and then serve you... I don't really mind either way but get irritated if I have to wait too long.

    Here in DK restaurants usually have salt, pepper and vinegar, in the fancy ones you can even get light spiced salad oil.

    When I visited the Us one thing I missed were good Bread, That is probably different other places in the US, but in Seattle even the big supermarkets seemed to have only bland white bread.
