  • "Eight, maybe ten hours" ... then you'll have to go home and rest. :)

No Massage Therapist works those hours.

Six?  Maybe six.  We really WORK when we work.

After I thought about it, you are right.   There is going to be time in between, and especially at first.  These people make appointments.  Sometimes they do not show up.  Or I'm new and maybe there is no one FOR me to massage.   So, I have to stay around until there is someone or go home.  That would not be fun for me at all.

I told them I wanted nights and weekends. Because no young person wants to work those hours in this industry.  Fine.  I want the hours no one else wants that are busy hours.   Perfect for me.

I think I can actually look forward to this finally.

It's been so hard, you just would not believe it.  WOULD NOT.  The only thing that kept me going was the thought of doing ANYTHING else.

    That was even worser.

Girl, your going to shine !  After a few customers, they will tell their friends, who will tell their friends, etc.  Word of mouth will sing your praises and you will have plenty of regulars who will want only you.  Trust me.  I know good things / Blessings are heading your way. I'll put money on it !

This is the HARDEST thing I have ever done.  Going to school and getting a job in this industry.   There are plenty of jobs, yes but there are plenty of applicants as well.  Thank GOD, I am using my wisdom for a change and realizing that the young are very lazy.   I can take advantage of the fact that a lot of them are not very serious and I need to pay the bills.

So, this is a lot better than jobs I have had before that were really very hard and not very stable.  I think I can survive in this career, but it is not going to be a piece of cake, I can see that, JA.

I AM OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE.  LOL

I say good luck to you. We may not see much of you on here?  Maybe you will motivate Pearl to get some sort of vocational training like you have had?

Don't pick on Pearl.  I think she has some circumstances we may not realize that makes just everyday stress a lot harder on her.   I can do nothing but be here for her, just like you are.  I know we all like to fix things if we can, for others, but some are in different places and we need to just love them for what they are.

I occassionaly watch "Hoarders" on cable TV when I am flipping channels.

From the internet---Hoarding behavior is often severe because hoarders do not recognize it as a problem.

I am in no way suggesting that Pearl is a hoarder---in fact I would be quite surprised if she were a hoarder.

On the other hand, when someone says that no one will hire them, what they are really saying that I don't know how to present myself as a valuable employee to a company in order to be hired, and when I am able to do that and be hired, I do not know how to act in a way that makes the company that hired me want to retain me as an employee.

If a person chooses to lie on a busy train track, would you not continue to "pick" on that person to get the hell off the tracks---regardless of her assurances that she is a victim of her location and thinks whatever happens is the responsibility of the train? Except that you have no idea of Pearl's mental status and picking on her might just make her even more committed to lying on the tracks. We don't know how the woman's brain is wired, or what she's been through in her life. Just as hoarding is often a reaction to severe trauma and you can't just nag a hoarder into cleaning up. Life doesn't always fit into neat little boxes.

And what if I am the last (or the only) person who thinks that tacitly approving her continual denial of a major tangible problem and a major cause of her continual disappointment is the only ethical approach?

I once prevented a suicide by wrestling a gun out of a friends hand.  She thanked me later.  I was interested in saving her from herself, not simply waiting for her to see the light and seek assistance.

And personally, I see the subject of our dialogue as simply committing a long drawn out suicide that no one will perform an intervention on because they are afraid they might offend or mis-diagnose one of the factors in that suicide.
