Have you ever personally met another Mugger? If so, whom and where?
I arranged to have a beer with Unicorn Man a few years back when I visited Sydney (arrangements made via the old AnswerBag). I'd forgotten how much I hate driving in that city, the Pacific Highway should be renamed the Pacific Parking Lot.
'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, rung down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!
That's a weird remake - the lumberjack song orginally was a run on from the barber sketch. The original dead parrot routine then had Cleese going to the pet shop owner's brother's shop in Bolton, before it got too silly and Colonel Chapman shut it diwn.
I first heard it on a rerun of Monty Python's Flying Circus, where it came from. Surreal humour that only Brits are able to do - Spike Milligan and Douglas Adams were also terrific at it.
There are a couple I have spoken with so much via video and phone that I feel like I've met them. I suspect that doesn't count. The only long-term Mugger I've seen in person is Wey. For a little while, we had someone here by the name of Chengdu, but I think most would remember him from AB. I met him in person, as well as the ABer Possum. That's it from the online world so far. I'd probably meet up with just about anyone if they were in the Phoenix, area. You know, in a very public place with security and such. Unless I'm meeting Randy D, in which case, any dark alley will do.
