Knees, faces, elbows - nobody sued, our parents kissed us better, patched us up with iodine and band-aids, and we went straight back to the playground.
When I was about 9, I scraped my back badly against the bottom edge. It hurt for days, perhaps weeks, I can't recall. I was given an injection and some capsules, and my mother used to apply some ointment twice a day.
I loved the big slides; I still do! I lived across the street from my elementary school so we spent untold hours playing on the school ground slides, swings, monkey bars, parallel bars, straight bars, softball and football fields. We would bring sheets of wax paper from our kitchens and slide sitting on it which made the slide so so much more slippery. Great fun!
