In the January 21, 1980 edition of Newsweek Magazine Isaac Asimov wrote the below-stated words. Prescient wasn't it?

"There is a  cult of ignorance in the United States and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life nurtured by the false notion that democracy means 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge' "

Are you a fan of the man or an un?

Yes.  But I am an even greater fan of William Golding.

    LORD OF THE FLIES author.

  • Yes, I am a big fan of Tovarich Isaac Asimov. I have read many of his diverse books. He is a great writer of science fiction, e.g. "Foundation Trilogy". He also wrote brilliant essays, including a book about the Bible. He was a columnist in several magazines, e.g. "Science Digest" and "Fantasy & Science fiction". There are collections of these essays. Many quotations of his writings are seen. One of my favorites is, "The Bible properly read is the most potent force for atheism in existence." One column I saw in a collection refutes Eric van Daniken's "Chariots Of The Gods" book. The staff of History Channel should read it before they allow Eric to utter his foolishness as a TV series.

I'm a fan of Dr Asimov. One of the few sf writers who was a scientist FIRST. It makes his novels far more believable - and he also had that knack (shared by engineer Robert A Heinlein and fellow scientist E E Smith) of not allowing what he knew to get in the way of a good yarn. Also wrote a goodly number of nonfiction books and articles.
The Foundation series (initially a trilogy but finished up at seven books) ended up intertwined with his Robot series - like Heinlein, he knitted his multiple universes together.
