Is it appropriate to contact someone by messages when they "friend" you?

    I don't see why not, unless you plan on sending unsolicited dirty messages. :o Otherwise, it's usually a green light.

    Yes, and it is very nice of you to politely ask beforehand like you just did.  That is a sign of a person who has some sensitivity going on there.

    I appreciate the compliment. I have added friends and when they accept, I have sent a "hello" message. I guess if I added someone as a friend and they DIDN'T accept, I wouldn't send any messages,,,,,
