In my state, we had the Johnson's Island Prison for Confederate officers. No celebration is held. The prisoners died from starvation and exposure. Big cemetery there. Of course, the Union soldiers were treated as bad at Andersonville Prison. There have been recent restoration efforts at Johnson's Island. (the wooden coffins were caving in)
No cp. There are 11 Confederate states. The Charlottesville, Virginia tragedy happened because a statue of Robert E. Lee in Emancipation Park was going to be removed and people who LOVE their Confederate history and all their heroes protested. There is a Confederate Memorial Day that is celebrated on different days by different confederate states. They celebrate their dead and wave their Confederate flags and despise it that any evidence of the Confederate States of America is being removed. I am not being sarcastic at all cp. I am simply wondering which Answermuggers live in Confderates States and celebrate their war heroes? I didn't know it existed until I came upon that information while researching something. So did I answer your question?
