Not all AMericans and not all of America but I did come across a quote that I found interesting the other day in connection with the American War of Independence  I will copy it below if I find it again.

And  I had also read a comment that America was one of the most aggressive countries in the world.. I can't find that quote again and I am really not sure what they based it on. so not sure about that one...

Sorry for the delay. I just couldn't find the original page where I had found the quote.. but I found it somewhere else... it goes like this..

In 1776, a fellow Pennsylvanian, John Dickinson, asked Franklin, who had been an early advocate for independence, exactly why the colonies should separate from the mother country. Franklin replied:

“We have spawned a new race here in America. It’s rougher, simpler, more violent, more entrepreneurial, and less refined. … We require a new nation.”

I think what I found interesting was the idea that somehow Americans were more violent, aggressive and less refined/genteel - I wonder whether that is partly an explanation for Trump and the right wingers?  An accusation often leveled at America is that they are all aggressive.. Of course we know that's not true - there are some devastatingly sensitive and intelligent Americans... many of them in fact.. but I do wonder where the aggressive, angry, racist, worshiping of money above humanity comes from...

Interestingly too the place I finally found the quote again was a site that was advocating a return to that aggressive, ideal.  https://www.wnd.com/2013/05/the-vanishing-american/

Blessed are the gullible, but NO. Don't believe everything (or most things) that you read on the World Wide WEB unless you can confirm what you read from multiple sources, even if those items seem to vindicate your own preconceived notions.

I seriously doubt that Franklin ever said such a thing. The only attribution I can find is the same one you had to search the WEB for, the one that was so hard to find. Consider too that Franklin was a very well known, highly published and well respected media mogul of his day and was an avowed Patriot to boot. Given that, it's HIGHLY doubtful that the quotation would not appear anywhere but in the mind of a former 21st century Congressman from Colorado.

LOL a Trump supporter tried to tell ME about gullible?? LOL I have heard it all now.. Yes, there is doubt that he actually said it.. lol it's far too convenient isn't it.. I was aware of that... they believe it comes from a play written and performed about the war of independence... However... it would certainly explain a lot :P

Oh btw it DOES appear several places... and not all in reference to the loopy congressman - lol maybe my research skills are better than yours :P

Well then please, give me those links. Inquiring minds want to know. (I'm betting though that they all lead back to that buffoon, not a single reference back to Franklin or any of his contemporaries.)

And as to Trump, it was the lesser of two evils. As bad as the media has painted him to be, Hil-LIAR-y would have been much. MUCH worse in actual practice.

They didn't.. ALL lead back to that one.. I originally found it elsewhere and only found the congressman link when I tried to remember where I had originally seen it..  But you know you are just going to have to do your own research, and/or just trust me cos I am not a performing seal :P  I am sure I could teach you a thing or two :P

What  I can also say is... that if you really felt that a man who is a complete retard, with the language skills of a retarded 4th grader and the mentality to match, who is so stupid he doesn't or cannot listen to advice from your own experts there, that he doesn't read reports, that he forgets what he has said so thinks everyone else has forgotten too, a man that has many, many failed business ventures behind him and with huge questions over his current ones in terms of what he paid for them and how much they are actually worth, a man who outright lies and has barely any acquaintance with reality and what IS feasible, a man who has demonstrated very poor judgement and decision making re all these unprecedented hirings and firings - was better than someone who at least could command respect for her intellect and dignity... well my friend you are well and truly screwed!

Just what I thought. You can't find any connection for that "quote" other than back to that Congressman. Because if your ability to type a word or phrase into a Google search engine were any better than anyone elses you would be able to "reproduce" those previous results.

You see, It's up to you to prove your outlandish claim, not up to me to disprove it.

You thought wrong... which is HARDLY a first in your case :P I just couldn't be bothered to trudge through and find it for you.. what part of not being a performing seal did you not get? LOL you know I am just teasing you..we are bosom buddies you and I and if we were to meet in real life we would get on like a house on fire.   It was never up to me to prove anything.. you were more than welcome to prove your expertise in internet research.. but you chose not to.. deflection is a skill - clearly :P
as the vid says.. watch out... you might get what you're after - I can give way more than I get.. And who said anything about it having to be google? You show a marked lack of imagination and expertise in exploring the tinternet my friend :P

So nothing, just like I though. You post a lie and then disclaim responsibility; typical liberal trick. Just throw up a smokescreen. Pretty sad on your part, really.

Thanks for hanging in and taking the time to find the above info and the link Addb. I appreciate it a great deal. So we the people are returning to that which we were always meant to be then? The recalcitrant aggressive selfish bully?  That leaves the rest of us who are not that out since we abhor condemn that strain of American. Are we in the majority and just quiet about it or in the minority? I wonder. In any case it's sad.  SIGH This post was edited by RosieG at August 15, 2017 4:28 AM MDT

My feeling is that it wasn't really something Franklin said.. it would be a little insulting to say the least.. it may represent a modern view of how things are panning out :(

I don't think we are top banana hate-wise.   There are far more indigent countries filled with angry people who have nothing left but hate.

We have a few things left.

Like what? All there is left in my opinion are those of us in the RESISTANCE who keep talking about the monstrous evil controlling the country. That fellow citizens caused it is also monstrous. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday.

I have never seen any scientific connection showing guns cause hate.

You're making an accusation without any proof, not really asking a question.

  • Guns do not equal hate! Look at the violence in some African countries, and then try to make your statement again.  You spew hatred on here everyday, are you a gun owner?

  • This assertion is quite illogical. There is no correlation between gun ownership and hate. Many of the people who are most consumed by hate also hate guns and gun owners. The liberal media is stirring up insane hatred for Trump and anything he may do and hatred for anything his family may do as well. I have never seen such blind hatred for a president as we have now. I just began here today, and I see many of your "questions", and they are just hate for trump. I have other things to do than sit here all day every day. I am writing and illustrating a book now. This accelerating insane hatred and rage aroused by media liars is appalling. I wonder if the media moguls are just pathetically stupid or have a nefarious purpose in inciting such chaos.
