I have a moral dilemma. I hate killing creatures and a hive of bumble has built an underground hive in my back yard.

The question posted before I was able to change it. Back to the bees...what would you do?

At least they're not wasps. I don't think Bumble Bees are that agressive.

You could just leave it alone. The internet says they don't reuse nests from year-to-year. This post was edited by Mr. Bromide at August 21, 2017 2:24 PM MDT

Bumble bees are aggressive. They will sneak up on you and chase you. They will come from all directions to attack.  Good news is that there are only a few per nest.

Personally, id go on the internet and see how you could re-locate them to a safe place. I think bumble bees are on the endangered species list now, or some of them are, and they are passive and sweet. I wouldnt kill them fo sho. ;P

Passive and sweet my a$$! If you leave them alone, they tend to mind their own business.

There are 'pest control people' who specialize in removing such unwanted nests and then putting them where the bumble bees will pose no danger. The problem with that is that at any time many bees are 'out' and on returning those bees will try to 'repair' the nest if there is any part of the nest that have not been thoroughly removed.

So talk to an 'exterminator', killing the bees is not the only solution they can help with. It usually cost more money to do it gently though. If it were honey bees there will usually be beekepers willing to do it for free (to get the hive). This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at August 23, 2017 8:51 PM MDT

Whatever you do, please don't exterminate them.

I don't want too and they aren't aggressive, but I have this wife problem. The bees are doing much of the pollinating as the honey bees a
    have all but disappeared.

There have been too many bee colonies dying.  They are very important in the pollination process for food and that could become a very serious problem.  It would be terrible if people killed them rather than relocate them.
