oh yeah, i'd like to paraphrase for you, but i'm afraid even then it wouldn't be a good representation of what my announcement would consist of, since it's well over 50% cuss words. omfg... o.O

That makes sense, yes. After panicking, I'd try to do that.

  • LOL!!!!!  Walking full throttle spewing curse words. Seriously! I'd pay to see that. LOLOLOL

True story...After my first night in my first apartment when I was 18, I went to the bathroom after waking up.  I was sitting there and a cockroach climbed out from between the seat and the bowl in front of me.

I didn't see it until I felt something tickle my leg.  It was horrible,. lol

  • If you have town or city sewerage, they come in through the pipes.  Rats are excellent swimmers and can tread water for 3-4 days. I think they can hold their breath for along time too.,

Basically, unless you have a septic tank with a leech field, you are not immune from this happening for real.

I do have a septic tank and drain field system at my domicile.

It's very doubtful that the little critters are willing to dig through all that dirt and also lift the concrete lid if they chooses the tank as an entry point (as opposed to one of the drain field distribution boxes). So I'm not too worried about that route of rodent or reptile encroachment. Probably a lot easier to just come in through an open door or some thin opening in the outside house wall that I haven't found yet. (Mice seem to know where those openings are, and those mice also seem to have struck some kind of detente agreement with that throw rug that eats, I mean our cat.)

Even on a municipal system I don't have too much concern about rats coming in through the active toilets although that does sometimes happen. An ME I used to use theorized that it only happened when there were system overloads (think paying rent on beer at the end of the Superbowl game and EVERYBODY flushes at the same time). At that point the rodents are trying to escape the deluge; they may be excellent swimmers but that's not their first choice of locomotion.

A FAR bigger concern is . . . renovations. That kind of work sometimes leaves old floor drains abandoned and uncapped , especially in commercial buildings. Even in-service drains that are missing their grating can be an entry point. I've had several situations where that's happened. The traps dry out and people start to smell funny odors and suddenly have new "pets" running between their legs and stealing their snack food.

It's just a gray squirrel, minus the cute, bushy tail.

After stopping myself from hyperventilating, I would call some sort of service to remove him and have him relocated.

Then I would need to figure out if I needed to move!
