Discussion»Questions»Fashion» Why do people (mainly girls and women) pay a zillion dollars for jeans with rips and tears in them. Are they really that stupid?
LMAO! I haven't a f*cking clue why they would waste a lot of money on that. I should go to my local thrift store, buy up all their jeans, rip and tear them, then sell them on Ebay.
Thanks Element. You just gave me a new idea to supplement my income.
Holes or not, I haven't worn blue jeans since an old girlfriend bought me a pair back in 1975. She said something about my azz looked good in them. I saw a manager at work with some holey jeans. I offered to buy her a new pair if she was really that bad off.
I'm rather indifferent to whether they come ripped or not, but the ripped look makes them more casual. You don't usually pay more because they're ripped. It's just an alternate style. Sometimes, the manufacturers put little defects or holes in places that are suggestive, like the upper thigh. How many adults actually have pants they've worn through or torn naturally? Very few, I would assume.
Lol:) I saw it in Pinterest a while back and was first thing I thought of when read this Q. I do wear a lot of ripped jeana, but yet to try that... I'll make it my next party trick now that jean weather again :)
Another insane fad! My parents bought me new jeans when I was in elementary school, and they discarded them when they faded much or tore. i would never in my life wear such terrible jeans as these. When I was age twelve, I asked my parents to buy me wool dress pants, rather than casual denim jeans. I have never worn any jeans since age 12. I never mindlessly follow fads that are tasteless as this one is to an extreme level.
Most people mindlessly follow trends that can be silly, like this one, and they copy media ravings. If hanging framed cow manure on your wall became a fad, people would pay high prices for it and proudly display it.
