I'm going to a food bank. I get food and pass it around to people who could use it. This is not technically legal but I do it anyway. Sue

I am so sick and tired of all the food that gets thrown away in grocery stores.  They cannot donate it because they can get sued if it is not in pristine condition.  Screw that.   I will feed anyone who needs food.   There is no excuse for people to go hungry in the USA or ANYWHERE.

The Food Bank is just as guilty.  If the food gets stale it gets thrown out and there is always too much food to go around.

SO?  HELP YOUR FELLOW MAN.

All I can say is you have my respect and admiration for doing that. I hope that you keep doing that and can get others to help you in that effort.

I love feeding people and helping them out.  To a degree. I am not good at taking care of them.  Just giving them a small leg up.

I'm glad you are glad and I think you might be a person who does this as well when he can in some small way.

My late buddy, Steve, did some dumpster-diving for his alcoholic- homeless friends at the local Kroger supermarket. Then Kroger locked their dumpsters.

How nice of him to dig out of the garbage for people.

It would have been real nice if he bought them things he himself would eat.

Oh he ate the stuff too. It was mostly packaged stuff like baked goods that expired the day before. I had some of those cream-filled puffy things. Tasted OK.

Some years ago I had a drinking buddy who made some kind of deal with the manager of a supermarket where he would get all the food to be thrown out then he would go out and sell the stuff for half price. No shortage of  customers.
One time he'd brought home 7 full garbage bags of food but then he started on a booze binge and before he got sobered up police were at his door because of the foul odor. All that bags of stuff had become liquified.

    Just a story.

I think its horrible how much food goes to waste here in the USA. My late husbands family was in the grocery business and they threw away a lot of perfectly good fruits and vegetables because they had a dent or they were a little soggy. My son says here in america, it would be like a gourmet meal what you could find in a dumpster behind some fancy restaurants. We are spoiled and should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing anyone in our country to go hungry when we have so much food go to waste as it is already.

When I was young i often lived in rented rooms.
Once the landlady came to give me a can of food. it looked funny, so the her family did not want to eat it.
I looked a the can (bulging as if it was about to explode) and told her I did not want to eat it either. "Obviously there are bacteria living (and farting) in there. It is just not healthy.
And then she got offended. "You are poor, you cannot afford such squeamishness".
Ah, well, she was a nice enough lady, just ignorant.
Just make sure you dont act like her This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at October 3, 2017 8:20 AM MDT

I would never give someone food I would not eat myself.

That is SICK and I cannot believe she did not die.

I have done this before, but not often. This just inspired me to continue that mission because it truly is a shameful thing we all do. Thanks, Shar.

OMG how nasty of her!!!  I'm glad you replied the way you did.....she obviously has NO COMMON SENSE to want someone else to eat a bad can of food!!!  good grief!!!!

someday take over a bag of, say, half rotten fruit.....and tell her you wanted to return the favor! LMFAO!!!!
