Hmm really not sure it works like that.. perhaps in some people.. but I think the process is probably more complex than just that from a human behaviour pespective.  Certainly not something I have experienced personally.  My thinking starts with the thought that if good will is not genuinely felt then it's probably not all that calming and restorative to our human psyche....  I also don't think hate and bigotry kills you.. I say this cos there are a ton of hateful, twisted bigots around and they seem to be alive and well :(
