Do you blame others for your ignorance? Aren't you responsible for educating yourself? Do you expect others to hand it to you on a plate?

Some folks get so angry because they don't know what's going on. Why don't they investigate/research/educate themselves? Why is it the responsibility of other people to get them up to speed?

I seldom blame others for anything I know I have caused to begin with.   Except for this election of course.  I blame Russia and Trump for everything.

They did it all.  They are the others.

Yes, indeed we are all individually responsible for educating ourselves.. The problem with ignorance is.. that people are often so ignorant that they are also ignorant to the level of their own ignorance.. In this way they cannot, (seemingly) educate themselves and learn as they are too ignorant to know that they are ignorant, let alone know what they need to educate themselves on.

Here's what I refer to specifically Addb. I ask a question and then I get hammered for not providing all the details with a link so that the ignorant lazy person doesn't have to investigate at all. They EXPECT you to spoon-feed them, dot all the i's, cross all the t's fill in all the blanks because they don't keep up with what is going on around them. So they attack YOU because they don't know anything about it. I think that is absurdly ridikkalus. They don't say "I don't know about this" but no...they attack ME. SIGH. You are ALWAYS up to speed about everything I ask. You not only keep up you are usually way ahead of me. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Addb and Happy Sunday to thee! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 10, 2017 2:01 AM MDT

The biggest problem with not knowing something, is you don't know what questions to ask to learn about that thing.  We all need some help.  I cannot look something up on the internet if I don't know it exists, so how can I stop being ignorant about that thing?

Here's an example of what I mean Maurice.  I ask a question about what is in the news. One person will attack me for not providing all the details because he/she is totally ignorant about  it. I am assuming people keep up with what is going on. I give them enough information to do further research if they are ignorant about a particular topic. I don't expect to have to spoon feed people. Most folks know what is going on and have opinions and chime in with what they think.  Some might not and will say "I don't know about this" in which case I try to provide more information. But there are a couple who will attack me because they don't know what I'm talking about. How is that MY fault? Why is it my job to keep them informed to their satisfaction?  I don't get it. Of course if you don't know something exists you can't question it. But if someone mentions something like, say, the Marianas Trench and you've never heard of it why not Google it to educate yourself? I Google things all the time that Answermuggers talk about that are unknown to me. Isn't that what learning is all about? You have to take the initiative to educate yourself. You read about something and you want to know more so you investigate don't you? That's all I'm saying. I have a dictionary open at all times so I can look up words Answermuggers use with which I am unfamiliar. I don't expect them to give me a definition. They ASSUME I either know what it means or can look it up. Similarly when Answermuggers discuss things about which I have not heard before I Google it so I can become familiar with it. Anyway thank you for your reply and Happy  Sunday. I know I am ignorant about zillions of things. Learning comes a step at a time over time. YOU have to be the one to take the step . That's all I'm saying. :)
