The Man got rid of the truly effective tin foil. It was a threat to his power and control...;-D...

Companies are skimping on materials, trying to save money.  When I was a kid, I remember Hostess Ding Dongs used to be much richer and yummier---the icing on the Ding Dongs was thick and the creamy filling sugary.  Today, the chocolate layer over the cake is thin and not that tasty.  Worchestershire sauce is also more watered down.  It used to be thicker, tastier, and spicier.  And notice how they're putting less macaroni in the boxes of macaroni and cheese? :((

Ain't that the truth. Foil / plastic bottles, but that's good in respects to the ecology.

  • There are different brands and thicknesses of foil you can buy.  Reynolds wrap makes heavy duty wrap which is very strong.  You get what you pay for in foil though if you buy the cheap off brands.

I have always been amazed that you could buy that stuff in the past  so cheaply.    I didn't know how they made such a massive amount of tin, now aluminum, foil and yet were able to charge so little.

They must have heard me.  Now 25- feet of the thinnest stuff imaginable costs about the same as the  heavy- weight foil that contained 100 plus feet, once used  to cost in the "good old days" of a few decades ago.

Same with bleach.  You used to get a gallon for 50 cents.  Now it's 3 to 5 bucks.

OH WHY GOD?  WHY?   Because the cost of living has gone up on everybody and everything.    I'm surprised there is even any aluminum or  tin or foil left.

Because in those days we did not have several billions of people who use foil. Aluminium is also a limited resource.

  • "To keep from raising the price."  It's the same length of foil ... it just takes less material to get there!
