When in doubt about the direction a conversation is going you can always talk about the weather. It is innocuous/benign/harmless unless?

Unless you bring up climate change to deniers. And then it can get really ugly!  I guess any topic has an ugly side. You just to want it!  :(

    It's all in the delivery.

"It's pretty hot/cold/rainy" is a lot less apt to cause an argument with climate change deniers (or anyone else), than "It's pretty hot/cold/rainy because of all the pollution that the United States (and no other country) produces. Don't you think that all the horrible weather we're having is due to carbon emissions in Middle America?"

I have a standard response for most "climate" related questions as opposed to "weather" related questions. "Yep"

I just giggled when I saw your "Yep" Rose. I might use it if you don't mind. It's pretty noncommittal actually and it causes the person to think you agree. No blood is drawn. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :)

I think it would be fun to argue with a climate change denier. Kinda like arguing with a trump supporter.

You have a definite advantage over me m'dear. Your temperament is even keeled. Mine is NOT. I would get very angry and very hot and blow my stack. Probably sooner rather than later. But I wouldn't mind being on the sidelines watching and listening to you take one on. I'd be cheering for ya! Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday Ele! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 15, 2017 3:02 AM MDT
