Discussion»Questions»Human Behavior» You make cakes and refuse to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. If you sold shoes would you sell shoes to them? What the diff?
I do NOT agree with refusing to make the cake - just wanted that to be clear before I answer. The baker most likely feels that providing a wedding cake for a gay wedding would indicate support of gay marriage. Selling shoes to a gay person would only indicate that you support wearing shoes. As for 'what's the diff?' - some people have principles and don't sell out for money. I would not sell sheets to the KKK, for example.
Not even for their beds? They don't wear sheets any longer since Trump made them popular. They don't need to. They have nothing to hide and they march in pride KNOWING that the prez is on their side. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday Jane. You would not know who is buying your sheets. Assuming you support the lifestyle of those who buy your products? I disagree. What about pedophiles or racists or murderers? They buy your products too but you have no knowledge of whom they are. Take it a step further. Should every customer being vetted by the FBI before you sell to him/her? Slippery slope.
Either you are deliberately trying to make me look ridiculous or you are not able to understand the concept without my writing a paragraph spelling it out for you in great detail. How about if I had said I would not KNOWINGLY sell sheets to a KKK member or anyone else if I KNOW they will use them to hide their identity while doing racist or other things which I think are immoral? It is NOT a slippery slope. There is a HUGE difference between selling sheets to an anonymous person who walks into my store and filling an order from a group of white supremacists and I assumed you could tell the difference. I was talking about standing up for your principles and not selling out in order to make a buck.
