Do you find the sound of kids playing bothersome or normal?

Like when they're yelling or screaming at home or at a park- not in situations where quiet is expected, like restaurants, stores, libraries, etc.

I find the noise wonderful; much preferred over seeing a bunch of silent children staring and doodling on their phones, ignoring each other.

That's the way I see it. My father had a "children should be seen and not heard" mentality, except that we really weren't supposed to be seen either. lol When my own kids are racing around and the house is filled with shrieks of laughter, it makes my heart happy. :)

I bet he also had a "women should be obscene but not heard" mentality.

    Short answer:  Yes.
Long answer:  I live alone in the middle of the woods.  The sounds of anyone yelling or screaming, is like nails being scraped across a chalkboard to me.

Is it always bothersome to you or do you find it ok in other situations?

    Always bothersome. :-(

I'm not a woman who appreciates children.  I was telling someone last night, recently a guy was trying to impress me.  He eventually showed me pictures of his little granddaughters.  It was hard to smile and tell him that the kids are cute when all I was thinking was: "Hoo boy, that one year old looks like a little monkey."

Doesn't bother me unless they're screeching bloody murder and making me think some freak is chasing them or something.

Quiet kids are up to something they shouldn't be. I prefer noisy ones, at least you can tell precisely where they are.

  • I'm used to it and I like to hear that they're  playing and happy.
If a baby is screaming in a restaurant or wherever It doesn't bother me either because I went through caring for a baby so I know you can't always keep them perfectly quiet.
    It's just life. : )

    Satisfying and pleasant.

If they are enjoying themselves.  If they are being screaming brats, that is not playing and that is most unpleasant.

I enjoy happy noise. I miss it.  Fighting/whining, not so much.

The worst noise of all is the sound of parents screaming/swearing at or threatening their children. It's not just bothersome, I find it to be intolerable.

VERY bothersome now. Our kids were out of the house long ago so it would mean some strangers are around the place without permission.

But if those kids are around with permission then it's perfectly normal.

I kind of welcome it. I heard sounds like that all the time when I was a kid. Now, kids today stay indoors playing on their gadgets not living a normal life.
