    My wife is Asian, and when we were first married, it was enforced in our household more stringently than it is now.  She has by now spent more than half of her life in the US, so it tapered off quite a bit over the years.

    I never wear shoes in the house!  Half the time I don't wear them outside of the house either.

    Nope, always thought it would make guests feel uncomfortable. However, I take my shoes off because I don't like wearing them around the house.

    Lyrical, I never force it....on them...if they want they can continue to wear...but I must clean the house immediately after they leave;))

    I used to have that rule.  People ignored me.  I finally gave up.  My floors look like crap.  Now I have to refinish them. :-(
