Why does president Trump not own a While House dog ?

Apparently he is the first president in over 100 years that does not have a While House pet.
Does he not like dogs or do dogs not like him?

    Perhaps, like me, he doesn't want a dog anywhere around him.  Perhaps Melania doesn't like dogs either.  Perhaps someone in the Trump family has an allergy to canines.  Who , besides you, cares (I wonder).
