Any of you work a lot of overtime? Maybe you shouldn't. It can kill you. It killed a Japanese political reporter. Scared?

Miwa Sado died (after logging in 159 hours of overtime in one month) due to congestive heart failure. So overwork is overkill. Literally.

I work 55 to 66 hours every week. I don't like that many hours, but that is the fewest I am offered. At least I got 3 weeks off for holiday. (vacation)  I keep telling the manager that I don't like all the hours, but then he starts talking about the openings he has for another position that is 70 hours per week. Ugh!

That's a LOT! How is your health holding up under that humongous continuous workload? I mean the overtime is probably great but what good will it do you if if kills you? I'm just sayin'! Thank you for your reply bh and Happy Sunday! :)

I guess the good news is I get to sit a lot, but there is some physical work to keep me from turning numb.

Oh bh that's not good either! You know if you sit a lot for a long time that's how blood clots can form which can travel to your heart and kill you! You need to get up and walk around periodically. Life is a balancing act. Not always easy to achieve. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)

A conclusion is drawn without information that all other reasons have been eliminated. How do you know it was not stimulants this employee might have been taking that allowed him/her to be able to work so many hours that contributed to heart failure? Stories like these are written to point you in a certain direction. In this case fear of the dangers of working too hard. This post was edited by O-uknow at October 9, 2017 1:48 PM MDT

Go to your nearest vocational school/ local college that offers truck driver training and try to earn a Commercial Drivers License.  If you can get that license, you can find work as a truck driver.

Employers find it cheaper to overwork existing employees than it is to hire more employees for many reasons. One reason is work may be plentiful now but later when work is slow they are forced to do layoffs.
