Your dog ate it, then hid where you will not find him before the neighbors start complaining about the smell.

No.  Can you imagine anyone in their right mind giving me security clearance?

Cleared to SECRET when I worked as a civilian clerk for the Royal Australian Air Force (tried to join, failed the medical). As far as I know it's never been revoked. Top Secret requires a qualification in cryptography (which I don't have), those are never sent in clear.

Now you have to kill me. When I was in the Navy, we were not supposed to divulge our clearances above 'confidential'. You lose it and your job.

Down here it's okay to mention that you handle secret documents, just not what's in them. It was over twenty years ago but I still can't tell anybody.

On my second ship, I went into the communications office and found, lying on the desk, something so ultra secret that if I had turned the com officer in he would have been jailed. I gave him a break; when he returned to his office he almost crapped his pants.

Yeah, an Aussie diplomat got fired for leaving an AUSTEO (Australian Eyes Only) classified document in plain sight.
