No, I've observed quite the opposite. While women claim that they hate being treated in a demeaning way by the menfolk it's the sexist men that keep putting notches in their headboards while the nice guys are shunned.

Nope. It's a deeply ingrained attitude that starts from the first experiences in the family and develops via influences from the classroom, media, culture and widespread social behaviours. I think western men are becoming less sexist, but only by slow degrees over many generations. Some men are outstandingly good at regarding women as just other people who are their equals; some have a blessed family background; others become egalitarians through studying sociology or ethics. Many men pretend to be non-sexist, but it doesn't take too long to see through them.
