    Let us first consider the nature of grammar.   If grammar be in and of itself good.........Hmm---Nothing negative about it.

    (With the possible exception that tildes, like commas, can inadvertently be overused)  lol

  • In some contexts, particularly in scripted speech, correct grammar can sound bookish and unnatural.
    English language usage changes very slowly. For instance, we have dropped the use of thee, thou and thine.
    The Oxford comma is still considered correct for separating complex phrases and clauses, but is becoming redundant for the penultimate word in a list.
    The textbooks and aps can only lag behind.
