Yes........& this may not be what you have in mind, but here goes.....
I love to read and had always heard about Marcel Proust, the French novelist......he wrote a SIX VOLUME NOVEL called 'In Search of Lost Time'..........
welllll, way back in the 1960s I was at the library and saw it on the shelf....it was a 3 volume edition......I opened the first volume and let the pages fall where they may, then stood there and read one very long paragraph.
OMG.......now, I said to myself, I MUST read this!!
absolutely captivated me, to say the least.......sooo......all in all I finally did read the entire thing, and in a newer translation......
I finished it about 10 years ago, so it only took me roughly 40 years to read this great, great literary masterpiece.
of course it's not to everyone's taste; but for me it was heaven!!!
so yes, I was truly dumbfounded by this incredible piece of writing.........
(not the type of answer you were expecting, huh? LOL :-D)
When I found out starboard is 'right' facing foreword and port is 'left' after doing 9 years in the Navy.
I guess I must have been spending too much time on the quarter deck (fantail) facing aft.

I remember the light question shipmate. Did you know that 'port side' used to be 'larboard'?
