I think it means to respect the office or rank.  A billionaire has certainly proven his abilities, and a 4 star General has earned respect because those stars don't come easy.

If a 4-Star general tells a provable LIE should he not be called out on it bh? Kelly LIED about Congresswoman Wilson. A tape of her ENTIRE speech in 2015 to which he alluded so viciously and untruthfully was played on a cable news show and NOTHING he accused her of happened. He OWES her an apology. Should we let it slide just because of his military rank? Thank you for your reply.

Like Trump, he was probably misinformed about something. After all, her name is WILSON. A Wilson could  never mess up. Right?

  • No. In fact, a four-star general is held to a higher standard, thus if he does anything questionable, it's even more imperative that it be recognized and dealt with. He's expected to not do things that cause people to question him. Therefore you have a larger responsibility for what you do.
