On August 11 Trump talked about the opiod crisis being a "national emergency". Over 100 folks die EACH DAY from it. Didja know?

Since August 11 how many MORE folks have died from opiod abuse/overdose? Was it really necessary to wait so long to DO something Mr. Trump? Why?

And is a new emergency since President Trump took office? Or did President Obama also wait so long and Bush...opoids are not a new problem.

What can he do? Throwing money at it might get some votes but will make no difference.  People make their choices and they live with the consequences.  When it was mostly black folks dying it was not so much of an "emergency".

One option would be to stop the 'war on drugs' and regulate availability through pharmacies, at least that way people with an addiction could be sure of what it s they are taking and the strength of it, this would also greatly reduce the number of prisoners and the number of people who have had their lives ruined because they have been labeled a felon and unable to find work or accommodation because they have committed the crime of ingesting a byproduct of nature. The main reason that the deaths occur is that opium was made illegal and this lead to heroin because it is easier smuggled, to my knowledge no one has died from smoking opium as you would fall asleep long before you overdose, unlike injecting heroin were once it is in your system it is too late, should it prove to be a powerful 'fix' or even a load of chemicals that someone knocked up in their kitchen in order to make a few bucks.

What would you suggest he do? There is no easy fix to cultural problems.

The best thing he could good do is make America great again. If people knew they had a future, they might not seek to escape from reality so much.

So this decades-old problem is suddenly President Trump's fault? Seriously? That's a big stretch of logic even for you, Rosie.

It may be decades old, but he inherited this problem by virture of his presidency. And now it's in his lap to do what's necessary to correct it. Apparently, that's too much of a stretch for you to see.

Thank you m'dear. Hugs always make folks feel better. They do me. Being hugged or hugging. There are some folks who don't like to be touched though. I'm not sure why. Maybe they grew up in families that were not demonstrative. Oh boy. Here comes another question! Happy Thursday to thee PC! :):):)

Waits so long for what? You expect him to wave a magic wand and make the problem disappear?
