If something is really popular, do you sometimes have an instinct to avoid it?

I call it the "hipster instinct". If everyone likes something, you automatically assume "it can't actually be that good". There are definitely times where I avoid things because they are popular.

I'm a natural born hipster, I just feel an aversion to popular things. It could also be because I'm also really stubborn. I still refuse to get some fancy pants iphone type thing, but that's mostly because I just don't need to spend all that money when the cheapo phone I have now works just fine.

Yes and tattoos are number 1 on the list. Wearing the exact same thing every day for the rest of your life is the most boring thing I can think of doing.  Tattoos are ugly as well. They all look like a cheap
    cartoon drawing.

I really disliked The Beatles at first, partly because they were more popular than they deserved to be.  When I listen to their first songs, like I Wanna Hold Your Hand and I Saw Her Standing There, now I think I was very right to feel that way.  Those early songs really sucked.  Then they got better but it took a long time to get over my initial revulsion.

I'm really in to beards. That one I like and I think I'll remain bearded for the long-term. Technology I can't keep up with...it's moving too fast. My wardrobe doesn't change much. I like my specific brands in specific colors.

There have been a lot of popular things that I avoided just because I thought they sucked.

Not really. I like to think it must have an appeal if its so appealing, but I dont just assume it does, I have to check it out myself before making a final decision on whether i like it or not.
